Keep Warm Keep Well

Winter can be difficult time for old people or these with chronic disease, disability and for families with young children. Low temperature can affect your health, check out this links and read few tips which can help you to stay warm during winter.

Top Tips

Dress Well - wear few thin layers of clothes, rather then one thick layer and flat non-slip shoes

Eat Well - have at least one warm meal a day and regular hot drinks during day

Keep Active - moving around will help to keep you warm and improve circulation, but be careful if the weather is wet or icy

Flu Jab - see your GP to get a flu jab. It’s free for people over 65 or with long term conditions such as diabetes, chronic heart condition, chronic respiratory condition, chronic kidney disease etc.

Warm House - insulate your home to reduce heat loss, check safety of your heaters and fires, service them at least once a year

Financial Support - check if you are receiving all the benefits you are entitled, read the booklets to find out how to reduce your fuel bill

Look after others - keep regular contact with your older neighbours or relatives, advise them how to keep warm
