Public Health Intelligence
Key Statistics
This section will develop into a comprehensive resource that will include several pages presenting a large number of measures to describe the health of people in South Staffordshire. They will be shown in a variety of formats such as maps, charts and tables, and supporting text, and will include information on:
- Demographics – data and information about the structure of our population (e.g. age, gender, ethnicity) and how it will change in the future.
- Socio-economic and environmental factors – showing the variation in deprivation and other factors (e.g. income, employment, educational attainment, housing, crime) across South Staffordshire and how this links to the differences in health.
- Lifestyle – data and information about lifestyles (e.g. smoking, diet, physical activity levels) and how this influences our health.
- Health outcomes – seeing how these factors affect mortality and morbidity and how this varies across the South Staffordshire population.
This section will also include information to support performance management processes and frameworks such as the Local Area Agreement between the PCT and partner organisations or the PCT’s own Local Delivery Plan.
The South Staffordshire PCT health profile provides an overview of many of the key health and demographic issues mentioned above that are facing the PCT population.
The profile (2.07Mb) presents information for South Staffordshire PCT and the six local authorities and makes comparisons with England. In some cases limitations to the availability of local authority data has meant that some of the indicators are based on other ‘best fit’ geographical area, e.g. former PCT areas. For some indicators information is also presented at an electoral ward level to highlight particular areas experiencing health issues and social deprivation.
These key statistics, along with accompanying graphs and maps, have been compiled into an easily accessible format.
We have also produced a range of health and wellbeing profiles at local authority level, click here to access these.
