Why go miles for your smile?

Why go miles for your smiles – when you can visit a local NHS Dentist in your area right now?

If you live in or around Cannock, Burton upon Trent, Rugeley, Burntwood, Gnosall Lichfield, Tamworth and Stafford there is a choice of NHS Dentists who are taking on new patients immediately.

To find out where your nearest NHS Dentist is all you need to do is:

Why is important for me to visit a dentist regularly

Regular dental visits are really important in order to ensure healthy teeth and gums but they are also vital for the early detection of the various types of problems that can occur.
Many dental conditions don’t cause symptoms in the early stages so it’s important to get your mouth checked regularly.

Dentists can also give you preventative treatment that may avoid problems later.

What to expect from your dentist

Don’t wait until you get toothache before going to a dentist. Visit your local NHS dentist and get a check-up and avoid unwanted pain and discomfort.

They will:

  • Examine your teeth, gums and mouth
  • Ask about your general health and any problem you’ve had
  • Ask about your oral care routine, your diet and whether you smoke
  • Discuss the timing of your next visit

NHS Dental Charges

What you pay depends on the treatment you need to keep you mouth, gums and teeth healthy.

You will only ever be asked to pay one charge for each complete course of treatment, even if you need to visit your dentist more than once to finish it.

You can get free dental treatment (including check-ups) if you:

  • Are under 18
  • Are under 19 and in full-time education
  • Are pregnant or have given birth in the last twelve months
  • Are getting Income Support, Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance, income related Employment and Support Allowance or the guarantee credit part of Pension Credit

NHS Dental charges from 1 April 2011

If you are not exempt from charges, you should pay one of the following charges for each course of treatment you receive.

Band 1 course of treatment - £17.00
This covers an examination, diagnosis (e.g. X-rays), advice on how to prevent future problems, a scale and polish if needed and application of fluoride varnish or fissure sealants. If you require urgent care, even if your urgent treatment needs more than one appointment to complete, you will only need to pay one Band 1 charge.

Band 2 course of treatment - £47.00
This covers everything listed in Band 1 above, plus any further treatment such as fillings, root canal work or if your dentist needs to take out one or more of your teeth.

Band 3 course of treatment - £204
This covers everything listed in Bands 1 and 2 above, plus crowns, dentures or bridges.

If you are unsure about anything do with your treatment or how much it’s going to cost speak to your dentist.
